While the PCPD has a long history of missing clues sitting directly in front of them, Joe seems unusually difficult to fool. He became suspicious of the Nathan and Cassius situation. He followed the trail surrounding Britt’s injections. He notices details other people dismiss.
That doesn’t automatically make Joe dangerous.

What if Joe already knew what he was looking for before he ever started asking questions?
That’s where this story gets explosive.
Joe’s mysterious background has remained remarkably untouched. Viewers know the detective standing in front of them, but they still know surprisingly little about the man who existed before Port Charles.
And now GH appears ready to place him even closer to Lucas.
On the surface, the setup couldn’t be more obvious. Joe and Lucas keep sharing scenes. Trust is developing. Chemistry is building. Their apartment situation could push them even closer together.
Everything screams NEW ROMANCE.
But that could be exactly what GH wants everyone watching.
Because while viewers debate whether Lucas and Joe will become a couple, Joe has quietly been collecting information connected to some extremely dangerous people.
Britt may be the biggest clue.
Joe has already become involved in questions surrounding Britt’s injections and the secrets attached to them. Once a detective starts pulling on a thread connected to Britt, it doesn’t necessarily stop with Britt.
It can lead straight into much darker territory.
WSB. Ross Cullum. Hidden operations. Buried evidence.
What if Joe’s involvement isn’t accidental?
What if Joe arrived in Port Charles already carrying a confidential investigation — and Britt just unknowingly gave him the missing piece he needed?
That would completely change how viewers should interpret Joe.
He wouldn’t simply be the newest detective at the PCPD.
He would be undercover inside it.
And suddenly his strange behavior makes sense.
Joe watches more than he talks because he’s gathering information.
Joe catches details other detectives miss because he already knows which details matter.
Joe keeps his personal history private because revealing too much could expose why he’s really there.
Even his relationship with Lucas becomes dangerous.
Perhaps Lucas was never supposed to become important to Joe.
Maybe getting close to Lucas was simply something that happened while Joe carried out his real mission.
But putting these two men under the same roof could create the one mistake Joe never anticipated.

GH has deliberately given Joe something incredibly valuable for a new character:

Where did he come from?
Why is he so good at finding what everyone else misses?
Why has his personal history remained so vague?
And why is he suddenly positioned close to Britt, Lucas and potentially mysteries that stretch far beyond ordinary PCPD business?
Maybe Joe Fitzpatrick really is just a talented detective who happens to fall for Lucas.
But Port Charles rarely introduces someone this mysterious without eventually opening the closet.
And if Lucas opens Joe’s first, he may discover that the romance viewers have been watching was never Joe Fitzpatrick’s biggest storyline.
His real reason for coming to Port Charles was.
