Victor Newman thought he could end his confrontation with Jack Abbott by throwing him out of the ranch. Instead, his anger could push him into making the biggest mistake imaginable. One furious exchange, one sentence that goes too far, and Victor could expose a buried DNA secret about Nick that he has protected for years — a secret powerful enough to shake the entire Newman family.
The confrontation begins with something surprisingly simple: Jack wants to help Nick. Nikki has already asked Jack to support her son through his recovery, knowing Jack understands addiction in a way few people around Nick truly can. Jack approaches Victor hoping they can temporarily put their legendary hatred aside. For Nick’s sake, Jack believes their feud should no longer matter.
Victor sees it completely differently. The idea of Jack becoming involved in another Newman crisis immediately sends him over the edge. He still carries enormous anger over Jack’s past involvement in Nikki’s addiction battle, and watching Nikki turn to Jack again only makes that resentment worse. Victor doesn’t see a recovering addict offering help to another recovering addict. He sees Jack Abbott stepping into his family once again.
Jack refuses to back down. He reminds Victor that this isn’t about their rivalry. Nick is struggling, Nikki is terrified for her son, and Jack has experience that could actually help him. But the more Jack pushes, the more personal Victor becomes. Finally, Jack challenges the one thing Victor cannot tolerate: his belief that he always knows what is best for his children.
“You don’t know Nicholas the way you think you do,” Victor fires back.
Jack immediately stops.
Victor realizes what he has said, but the damage is already done.
Jack presses him. What exactly is that supposed to mean? Victor initially refuses to answer, but his anger is running too hot. When Jack insists that Nick deserves every possible chance at recovery, Victor finally lets another devastating sentence slip.
“There was a DNA test.”
Suddenly, their argument isn’t about rehab anymore.
Jack demands to know what DNA test Victor is talking about. Nick has spent his entire life as Victor and Nikki Newman’s son. His identity, his relationships and his place inside the Newman dynasty have all been built around that truth. So why would Victor be talking about a DNA test as though there is something Nick himself doesn’t know?
That is where the buried secret becomes explosive.
Years ago, Victor could have learned about an unexpected discrepancy connected to Nick’s DNA. Instead of immediately telling Nikki and Nick, Victor did what Victor Newman has always done when something threatens his family: he took control. A second test was ordered privately, the paperwork disappeared from ordinary family records, and Victor made sure the questions surrounding it never reached Nick.
But what did that test actually reveal?
The most dangerous possibility isn’t necessarily that Victor learned he wasn’t Nick’s biological father. It is that the original result failed to give Victor the certainty he expected. Something was wrong — enough to make him investigate further and enough to make him decide Nick should never know the first result existed.
That distinction changes everything.
Victor could still be Nick’s biological father. A second test could have confirmed exactly that. But if so, why bury the entire incident? Why not destroy the doubt permanently by telling the family what happened? And most importantly, where is that second DNA result now?
Jack suddenly has questions Victor desperately does not want answered.
The timing could hardly be worse. Nick is already fighting one of the most vulnerable battles of his life in rehab. He has admitted how difficult recovery has become and how much his family motivates him to keep fighting. Discovering that the man he has always called his father secretly withheld information about his own biological identity could destroy that sense of security when Nick needs it most.
Nikki would also be forced into the center of the storm.
Did she know Victor ordered the test? Did Victor protect the secret from Nikki as well? Or is there something buried in Nikki’s past that Victor discovered and chose never to confront publicly? One hidden DNA result could suddenly reopen a chapter of Newman history everyone believed was settled decades ago.
And Victor’s greatest problem could now be Jack.
Victor can order Jack out of the ranch, but he cannot make him forget what he heard. Jack came there determined to protect Nick’s recovery. He could leave determined to uncover what Victor has been hiding from Nick instead.
Victor wanted Jack out of Newman family business.
His temper could have accomplished the exact opposite.
Because once Jack starts searching for that missing DNA record, Victor may no longer control when the truth comes out. And if the second test surfaces, Nick could discover that his father has been protecting a secret about his identity for years.
