Chelsea already believes something terrifying is happening, but the most important clue may come from someone who has no idea he is providing one.
The mystery begins with the disturbing calls that have reopened Chelsea’s trauma surrounding Allison. Chelsea has made clear that she does not believe their timing is an innocent coincidence. Kat is frightened enough to ask whether Allison could have escaped.
But Friday’s spoiler adds an unexpected name to the mystery: Smitty.
According to the August 28 preview, Smitty “unwittingly incites anxiety for Chelsea and Kat.”
The key word is unwittingly.
Smitty apparently does not deliberately frighten them. That suggests he may mention information he considers unremarkable without realizing Chelsea and Kat will immediately understand its significance.
And Smitty has another major storyline running at exactly the same time.
Current previews place him alongside Martin as Heather plays games with them, with Smitty continuing to dig into the Red Market plasma-ring story.
That creates an intriguing possibility.
What if Smitty encounters a name, location, phone detail, record, or other piece of information during his investigation that unexpectedly overlaps with Chelsea’s current nightmare?
He would not need to know the connection himself.
Imagine Smitty casually mentioning something he discovered. Chelsea freezes. Kat immediately understands why. Suddenly the mysterious calls no longer feel random.
The caller has already chosen a psychologically devastating way to target Chelsea. Silence can be more frightening than a direct threat because Chelsea is forced to fill in the blanks herself. Every unanswered call becomes an invitation to revisit the worst moments of her past.
That is why Allison is the obvious suspect.
Perhaps too obvious.
Chelsea believes Allison is behind the calls because the timing points directly toward her trauma. But another explanation remains possible: someone wants Chelsea to believe Allison is back.
If so, the caller would need knowledge.
They would need to understand Chelsea’s history, know which anniversary would destabilize her, and know that saying nothing might frighten her more than making an explicit threat.
Smitty’s accidental information could expose the first crack in that setup.
Maybe Allison cannot possibly be responsible. Or perhaps the opposite happens: Smitty unknowingly reveals something making Allison’s return suddenly plausible.
Either possibility would explain why both Chelsea and Kat become more anxious.
Kat’s involvement is especially important because Chelsea is no longer facing the mystery alone. Kat has already heard enough to take the danger seriously. If Smitty provides an independent piece of information matching Chelsea’s fears, Kat may stop treating the situation as trauma resurfacing and start treating it as an active threat.
That changes everything.
Instead of asking whether Chelsea is imagining a connection to Allison, the question becomes who is making these calls and what do they want?
Smitty may be the person who unknowingly pushes the women across that line.
The spoiler does not confirm what he says, and it does not confirm Allison has returned. But that uncertainty is exactly what makes Friday potentially explosive.
Chelsea has been waiting for the caller to finally speak.
She may not need them to.
Because Smitty could accidentally say the words that make the entire mystery much more real.
