General Hospital may have just planted the pieces of a disturbing new mystery. After Ava Jerome drugged Jack Brennan’s drink, a combination of upcoming spoilers and preview footage has inspired a frightening fan theory: Brennan could collapse near the Metro Court pool, leaving Charlotte Cassadine to discover him. Nothing currently confirms that Brennan dies—or even falls into the water—but several clues have made the theory difficult to dismiss.
The danger began in the August 28 episode, when Drew Cain gave Ava pills to use on Brennan. Drew wanted enough time to enter Brennan’s hotel room and steal the evidence the former WSB chief reportedly holds against him. Ava initially recognized the obvious danger. She questioned Drew’s intentions and worried that he might be setting her up. Nevertheless, when Brennan stepped away to answer a call, Ava crushed the pills and slipped them into his drink.
The episode did not show Brennan suffering a reaction. Viewers do not yet know whether he drinks the entire dose, realizes that the drink has been tampered with or experiences any serious medical consequences. That uncertainty is crucial. Brennan’s death has not been confirmed, and there is no reliable casting report indicating that Chris McKenna is leaving General Hospital. The theory is based on fans connecting separate promotional clues—not on official confirmation.
The first clue is the location. Ava drugged Brennan at the Metro Court, close to the pool that has featured prominently throughout the summer. In upcoming preview footage, Charlotte appears to enter that pool area at night, despite a sign indicating that it is closed for the season. Her presence there seems unusually specific, especially immediately after a cliffhanger involving a drugged man at the same property.
The second clue is Charlotte’s upcoming teaser. Published spoilers say that Charlotte will be “alarmed” on September 1. That wording does not reveal what she sees, but it suggests something more serious than an ordinary late-night swim. In a Reddit spoiler discussion, one viewer proposed that Charlotte could find a body floating in the pool—possibly Brennan. Other fans quickly noticed how neatly that prediction could connect the preview to Ava’s actions.
A third clue involves Ava herself. The same teaser list says that Ava “leaps to action.” If Brennan suffers an unexpected reaction, Ava may be forced to save him, summon help or prevent him from falling into the water. She did not know exactly what Drew gave her, and she relied entirely on his claim that the pills would merely slow Brennan down. An allergy, dangerous interaction or excessive dose could turn Drew’s supposedly controlled plan into a medical emergency.
Later spoilers add another troubling phrase: Ava “must think fast” on September 4. That could mean she is trying to conceal her role after the drugging is discovered. It could also mean Brennan survives and confronts her. Alternatively, she may realize Drew deliberately placed her in a position where she would carry the greatest legal risk. Drew supplied the pills, but Ava’s hands—and potentially the hotel’s cameras—could provide the most visible evidence.
There are significant problems with the pool theory. Promotional videos frequently combine scenes that are not directly connected, and Charlotte’s alarming discovery could involve an entirely different storyline. “Ava leaps to action” may simply describe her attempting to warn Brennan after regretting her decision. Spoiler photos also show Carly Spencer and Jason Morgan approaching Brennan’s hotel room, suggesting that Drew’s break-in, rather than a death, could become the central crisis.
Brennan is also an experienced intelligence operative. Many viewers find it difficult to believe that he would keep his only copy of damaging evidence in an easily searchable hotel room. He may already suspect Drew’s plan, possess multiple backups or even use the apparent break-in as a trap. If he recognizes Ava’s deception, the supposed victim could quickly become the most dangerous person in the story.
Ava’s history makes the situation especially chilling. She once replaced Morgan Corinthos’s bipolar medication with placebos to sabotage his relationship with Kiki.
