JOHN ABBOTT MAY HAVE ENDED THE CHANCELLOR DEBT HIMSELF — AND BILLY NEVER FOUND THE PROOF

Billy Abbott’s Chancellor claim has one enormous problem that nobody has been able to explain.

John Abbott.

Billy has uncovered an old agreement suggesting John loaned money to Chancellor under terms that could eventually give the Abbott side a powerful claim if the obligation remained unresolved.

It is an extraordinary discovery.

But it creates an equally extraordinary question.

Why didn’t John ever collect?

John lived long after the original transaction. If Chancellor had truly defaulted and John could simply enforce an ownership claim, there should have been ample opportunity for hissing piece could be exactly what Amanda is now searching for.

Lily revealed that she has Amanda investigating the history surrounding John’s loan because she wants to know whether there is something they have not discovered.

There is one possibility capable of explaining almost everything.

John himself may have resolved it.

He could have forgiven the obligation, modified the agreement, accepted another form of repayment or otherwise surrendered the rights created by the original document.

Y&R has not established that any of those things happened.

But the absence of an obvious repayment record does not eliminate them — and John’s failure to pursue Chancellor makes the unanswered history impossible to ignore.

It also creates the strongest possible twist for Billy.

Billy does not merely want Chancellor.

He sees this discovery through the lens of John Abbott’s legacy.

The document gives him something enormously powerful: evidence that his father once possessed a financial connection to Chancellor that everyone else overlooked.

Billy can therefore convince himself that pursuing the company means completing something John started.

But what if John already finished it?

Imagine Amanda finding a second document bearing John Abbott’s signature.

Billy initially believes it will strengthen his case.

Then he reads it.

John voluntarily released the claim.

Suddenly Billy would not be honoring his father by fighting for Chancellor. He would be reversing his father’s own decision.

It could also solve another mystery: Jill.

Lily suspects Jill knew about the loan. Cane believes she did. Billy believes her silence prevented him from discovering his rightful claim.

But Jill may have known something Billy did not.

She may have known the loan existed and also known it no longer meant what Billy thinks it means.

That would explain why the secret stayed buried without requiring Jill to have stolen Chancellor from her own son.

And it would explain why John never came for the company.

The original agreement is only the beginning of the transaction.

Amanda is now investigating the ending.

Billy has spent weeks asking whether Chancellor belongs to the Abbotts because of something John Abbott signed decades ago.

The real bombshell may be another piece of paper.

One that proves John Abbott already answered that question himself.
