SPOILER ALERT: Heather’s attempt to bury Smitty may have just created a much bigger problem for The Impaler. The evidence against Smitty looks almost too perfect: an old meeting with Max, a mysterious purple pouch, and a timeline that conveniently places everything right before Lia’s death. But there is one enormous problem. Someone had to make that evidence tell the story Heather wanted — and Beyond the Gates may have already introduced the forgotten witness who knows exactly who helped her do it.
Smitty immediately knew something was wrong when Jacob confronted him with the surveillance footage. The meeting with Max was real, but the timing did not fit his memory. That distinction matters. Whoever is targeting Smitty did not necessarily need to manufacture an entire encounter from nothing. They only needed access to something real, then enough control over the evidence to make an old event look devastatingly new.
That raises the question Heather cannot afford anyone to ask: Who had the access to help her? Heather is powerful, but her operation has never truly looked like a one-woman enterprise. Her Red Market connections stretch far beyond Fairmont Crest, and her organization has operated across multiple cities. Smitty’s reporting threatened that entire machine, giving Heather every reason to silence him without personally touching every piece of the setup.
The answer may be buried in Andre’s past.
Long before Smitty became Heather’s latest problem, Andre accidentally photographed something connected to Heather during their history in London. The show deliberately returned to that moment when Andre remembered speaking with a former police officer who knew Heather Wallach far better than Andre realized. The officer had once infiltrated Heather’s organization, and his reaction to her name was immediate. Heather was not simply a dangerous former girlfriend. She was someone Andre needed to escape.
Then came the detail BTG still has not fully paid off: Andre had taken a photograph of something he was never supposed to see. The former officer did not tell him to keep it as evidence. He urged Andre to delete it and get away from Heather before the consequences reached him or the people he loved.
Everyone naturally assumed Heather herself was the dangerous secret inside that photograph. But what if that was never the real reason the picture mattered?
Andre is a professional photographer. He notices backgrounds, faces and details other people overlook. If his camera accidentally captured Heather during business she needed hidden, there could have been someone else in that frame — someone whose connection to Heather was never supposed to exist on paper.
That person could be Heather’s insider.
It would explain why Andre’s old photograph remains such an important unresolved clue. Heather already knows Andre knows too much about her past. Andre’s fear has always seemed bigger than the embarrassment of an old romance becoming public. He was warned that Heather was lethal, and he has continued behaving like revealing everything he knows could put Dani in danger.
Now Smitty’s frame-up gives that forgotten photograph a completely new meaning.
The evidence against Smitty requires more than motive. Someone needed a way to turn surveillance into convincing evidence against him. Someone needed to understand where the footage would go, what investigators would see and how an old encounter could be presented as part of Lia’s final days. Even more suspiciously, the digital evidence surrounding Smitty has become the centerpiece of Jacob’s investigation just as Heather’s plan against the reporter moves forward. Current spoilers themselves have openly raised whether Heather is setting Smitty up.
That does not necessarily mean Andre is working for Heather. In fact, the opposite fits the clues better. Andre could be the one person who unknowingly saw the accomplice long before anyone in Fairmont Crest knew there was an accomplice to look for.
Imagine Andre finally seeing the footage being used against Smitty and recognizing something familiar — not Smitty, not Max, but the method, access or connection behind it. Suddenly, the photograph he was told to erase would no longer be an old London nightmare. It would become the missing bridge between Heather’s criminal organization and the person helping her operate from inside the system.
And that could be Heather’s biggest mistake.
She targeted Smitty because he was getting too close to The Impaler. Instead, framing him could force Andre to finally reveal the secret he has spent weeks protecting. One forgotten photograph may hold the face Heather never wanted anyone to connect to her — and if Andre remembers who was standing on the other side of that camera, Smitty’s supposed smoking gun could become the evidence that blows Heather’s entire network wide open.
