GENERAL HOSPITAL SPOILERS — SEPTEMBER 25, 2026

Drew Cain may believe he has found the perfect partner in Ava Jerome, but his biggest mistake could be assuming that her desperation makes her easy to control. Ava has survived dangerous men, devastating betrayals, and battles that would have destroyed almost anyone else in Port Charles. If Drew thinks he can use her hatred of Sonny Corinthos to keep her under his thumb, he may be forgetting exactly who he is dealing with.
The September 24 episode of General Hospital delivered a revealing moment when Ava confronted Sonny over his plans to take Avery and Donna to New York City for the ballet. What should have been a simple disagreement between parents quickly became an explosive confrontation. Sonny insisted that Ava’s permission was unnecessary because he controlled their custody arrangement, then threatened to turn Avery against her mother.
Ava ultimately agreed to let Avery miss school, but she left Sonny’s house furious. Later, she met Drew and made her position unmistakably clear. She would never trust him after he framed Nina, but she was willing to do whatever was necessary to bring Sonny down.

That distinction matters more than Drew may realize.
Ava did not forgive him. She did not suddenly become loyal to him. She simply recognized that their interests temporarily aligned. And anyone familiar with Ava’s history knows that a temporary alliance is not the same thing as surrendering control.
Long before Drew became one of Port Charles’ most dangerous manipulators, Ava knew how to survive in the criminal underworld. As a member of the Jerome family, she understood the value of leverage, the danger of trusting the wrong person, and the importance of keeping an escape route when powerful enemies began closing in.
This is the woman who once stood among dangerous mob figures without allowing them to intimidate her. She has made terrible decisions, certainly, but she has also demonstrated an extraordinary ability to adapt when circumstances turn against her.

Drew should remember that history before mistaking Ava’s current vulnerability for permanent weakness.
His campaign against Sonny depends on cooperation from someone who knows considerably more about the criminal world than he does. Ava understands Sonny’s emotional vulnerabilities, his complicated history with the Jerome family, and the lengths he will go to when Avery is involved.
But Ava also understands something Drew may be overlooking: A man who uses secrets to control his allies eventually becomes vulnerable to those same secrets.
Drew’s decision to frame Nina has already damaged whatever trust Ava might have placed in him. She knows he is capable of sacrificing someone else when it serves his interests. Why would she believe he would treat her differently once she stopped being useful?
That question could become the foundation of Ava’s next move.
Rather than openly confronting Drew, Ava could allow him to believe their partnership remains intact. She could continue listening, cooperating, and learning how he intends to destroy Sonny while quietly identifying the weaknesses in his own operation.
The most effective betrayal would not require Ava to suddenly become Sonny’s friend. She could still despise Sonny for threatening her relationship with Avery while recognizing that Drew poses an entirely different danger.
And that is where the old Ava Jerome could finally return.
Imagine Drew discovering that the woman he considered his most useful accomplice has been collecting information about him all along. Every conversation he believed strengthened their alliance could become another piece of leverage in Ava’s hands.
The woman he expected to help destroy Sonny could instead become the person who exposes Drew’s own schemes.
There is also the question of Avery. Ava’s anger toward Sonny is genuine, but protecting her daughter has always been one of her strongest motivations. If Drew’s ambitions begin threatening Avery’s security, Ava could find herself facing a choice that changes everything.
Would she continue helping Drew simply to punish Sonny, or would she sacrifice their alliance to protect her daughter?
The September 24 confrontation makes that possibility especially intriguing because Ava is now operating from a place of intense personal anger. Drew may see that anger as something he can exploit. Ava, however, has survived long enough to know that emotional decisions can become dangerous liabilities.
Perhaps her greatest opportunity will come when Drew becomes convinced that he has finally broken her resistance.
He could push too far, reveal too much, or underestimate how carefully she has been watching him.
And when that happens, Ava may not need Sonny, Carly, or anyone else to rescue her.
She may only need to remember the woman she was before Drew Cain entered her life.
Drew thinks he has recruited Ava Jerome to destroy Sonny Corinthos. The real question is whether he has just handed a former mob queen everything she needs to destroy him instead.
