The September 28 Canadian day-ahead recap adds that Matt appears before Victor and Nick, explains that he intends to take Patty away, and hopes to persuade her to surrender once they are outside Genoa City. Nick is skeptical.
The proposal sounds simple: leave town and persuade Patty to turn herself in. But her conflict did not begin with Matt. Jack and Diane have direct connections to its origins, and the recent message to them establishes that this isn’t merely historical trivia.
Matt may believe leaving town prevents confrontation, but that belief isn’t proof Patty has abandoned her feelings toward Jack and Diane. There is a crucial distinction between the original shooting and Patty’s later violent history; the strongest current connection is the old marriage, affair, consequences, and renewed message.
Nothing confirms Patty is preparing another attack or that Matt secretly plans to help her take revenge. The established events are compelling without inventing either.
