Drew’s return to Aurora may have been his biggest mistake yet. Michael already thought something was wrong with the case against Sonny, but the answer may have been sitting much closer than anyone realized. If Michael starts questioning why Drew was suddenly so desperate to get back inside the company he lost control of, one hidden financial trail could turn the entire Pentonville investigation upside down.

Michael never wanted Drew back at Aurora in the first place. Their history had become far too toxic, and Michael had already helped strip Drew of the control he once enjoyed over the company he founded. Drew remained connected to Aurora as a shareholder, but Michael held the stronger ownership position. That made Drew’s sudden request for an active role particularly interesting.
Jordan ultimately opened that door. With Curtis unable to run Aurora, Jordan stepped into the leadership role and decided there might be an advantage to keeping Drew close. She did not suddenly trust him. Quite the opposite. Jordan believed having Drew nearby would make him easier to watch. The problem is that Drew may have wanted exactly the same thing.
Drew insisted that he was not planning to shake things up at Aurora and suggested his energy was focused elsewhere. In hindsight, that reassurance could become enormously important. If Drew was not primarily interested in rebuilding Aurora or fighting Michael for immediate control, why was getting back inside the company so important to him?
Michael now has another reason to ask that question. After Curtis identified Sonny as the man behind the Pentonville attack, Jordan was prepared to believe the accusation. Michael was not. He acknowledged exactly what Sonny is capable of, but something about this particular attack simply did not add up. Michael could not see the benefit Sonny gained from ordering Sidwell attacked in such an obvious way.
The audience already knows Michael’s instinct was justified. Drew and Ava engineered the scheme that turned Sonny’s own connection to Vito against him. Vito betrayed Sonny, while Drew supplied the money needed to make the setup work. Even more suspiciously, Vito was promised additional money after the job, giving investigators something potentially far more dangerous than another witness statement: a financial trail.
That could bring Michael straight back to Aurora.
Michael does not need to discover a payment labeled with Vito’s name. Drew would hardly be foolish enough to leave something that obvious behind. Instead, Michael could notice an unexplained movement of money connected to Drew’s assets, business interests or financial activity around the same period that the Pentonville operation was being assembled.
Jordan might initially see nothing criminal about it. Drew still has financial interests of his own, and moving money would hardly prove he arranged an attack. Michael, however, could notice the timing. If Drew suddenly moved a significant amount of money shortly before Vito betrayed Sonny, the coincidence would become impossible for Michael to ignore.
That is when Jordan’s decision to bring Drew back could unexpectedly help expose him. She wanted the enemy close enough to watch. Now Michael could convince her to quietly examine what Drew was doing around Aurora instead of confronting him. The investigation would also give Michael and Jordan a reason to spend considerably more time together just as GH appears to be testing their growing connection.
Then another piece could drop.
If Dante, Ric or someone else investigating Vito discovers that Sonny’s former associate suddenly received a large payoff, Michael would have the missing half of the puzzle. One trail would show money moving away from Drew’s orbit. The other would show unexplained money reaching Vito. Neither discovery alone would necessarily prove anything, but together they could destroy the story that Sonny simply ordered the Pentonville attack.
It would also force Jordan to reconsider Curtis’ testimony without accusing Curtis of being wrong. Curtis could have heard exactly what the attackers wanted him to hear. Saying Sonny’s name during the assault would ensure that a credible witness carried the accusation directly out of Pentonville. The evidence against Sonny was not necessarily false. It may have been deliberately manufactured to look convincing.
Michael could finally see the larger picture: Vito’s betrayal, the money, Drew’s return to Aurora and an attack designed to leave Sonny’s fingerprints everywhere.
The cruelest twist would be Jordan realizing she personally allowed Drew back inside the company while he was hiding the secret that nearly got Curtis killed. She thought she was keeping her enemy close. Instead, Drew may have placed himself close enough to Michael and Jordan to watch the two people most capable of uncovering what he had done.
And if Michael follows that money all the way to Vito, Drew’s mysterious Aurora comeback could become the fatal mistake that finally blows Sonny’s Pentonville frame-up apart.
