For many viewers, that scene seemed to confirm where his loyalty stood. Vanessa appeared safe. Heather appeared defeated. The story seemed straightforward. But the more closely the recent episodes are examined, the less convincing that explanation becomes. In fact, one disturbing possibility is beginning to emerge: Joey may never have intended to choose Vanessa at all.
The first clue comes from what happened immediately after Joey’s meeting with Heather. Instead of telling Vanessa the truth, Joey lied. He claimed that the meeting had been canceled, even though the audience knows it took place. This detail may seem insignificant at first glance, but it creates a major problem. Joey could be preparing to sacrifice Vanessa’s trust in exchange for a larger prize.
Viewed through that lens, every recent clue starts pointing in the same direction. Joey meets Heather. Joey rejects her offer. Joey lies to Vanessa. Joey hides evidence of his preparations. Joey earns favor from someone important. None of these details independently prove betrayal. Together, however, they create a pattern that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
