Steve Burton is officially stepping back into the role of Jason Morgan beginning July 13. After returning to the studio on June 1, Burton revealed that getting back to work happened very quickly and felt like a whirlwind experience.
During an episode of the That’s Awesome podcast, which Burton hosts with longtime co-star Bradford Anderson, the actor hinted that significant changes are on the horizon. When Anderson asked whether the shake-up would affect the entire show, Burton explained that the major shift centers primarily on Jason and the stories connected to him.
Burton also praised the current writing team, saying they have given him exciting and challenging material to explore. He shared that the fresh direction has energized him as an actor and promised viewers that the upcoming storylines will be both entertaining and unexpected.
Burton’s comments align with a recent summer preview released by head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten. The writers confirmed that Jason’s time in prison has permanently changed him. The ordeal forced him to reevaluate his priorities, and when he returns to Port Charles, he will be operating with a completely different mindset.
