Determined to stop the romance before it grows stronger, Sonny turns to his most trusted investigator, Brick, to quietly tear the couple apart.
Anyone who knows Carly understands that telling her what she should or should not do has never worked. Sonny has spent decades beside her, sharing multiple marriages and countless life-changing moments, so he knows better than anyone that Carly follows her own heart regardless of outside opinions. This time, however, Sonny convinces himself that his concerns are justified. From his perspective, Valentin’s dangerous past, constant enemies, and unstable lifestyle make him a serious threat—not only to Carly but also to Donna Corinthos. Ironically, Sonny seems to overlook the fact that his own criminal life has created just as many dangers over the years.
Rather than confronting Carly face-to-face, Sonny chooses a quieter strategy. He realizes that criticizing her love life would make him appear hypocritical, especially after Carly’s involvement with Jack Brennan and while his own romance with Acting District Attorney Justine Turner continues to grow. Instead of risking a direct argument, Sonny decides to work behind the scenes, hoping he can influence Carly without openly interfering.
To carry out that mission, Sonny turns to Brick, the technology expert and investigator he has trusted for years. Knowing that Carly respects Brick, Sonny asks him to dig deep into Valentin’s past and uncover every dark secret, criminal act, and questionable decision possible. Sonny believes that if Carly is reminded of everything Valentin has done, she may finally reconsider the relationship on her own.
As Sonny reflects on Valentin’s history, one memory stands out above all others—what happened during Nina Reeves’ search for her long-lost daughter. Valentin’s cruel decision to hire an actress to pretend to be Nina’s missing child remains one of the most unforgivable betrayals in Sonny’s mind. Looking back with dark humor, Sonny can’t help thinking that Nina might have been better off if Sasha Corbin had remained the fake daughter forever, considering how complicated Nina’s real daughters eventually became. Armed with those painful memories, Brick begins gathering evidence against Valentin.
The plan quickly falls apart. When Brick presents everything he has uncovered, Carly refuses to be shaken. Carly believes neither she nor Sonny has ever seen Valentin intentionally place Charlotte in genuine danger, even if Charlotte has often created problems for herself.
When Brick returns and reports that his mission completely failed, Sonny is left deeply frustrated. His carefully planned attempt to separate Carly and Valentin through logic, painful memories, and concern for family has accomplished absolutely nothing. Realizing that none of those arguments can change Carly’s mind, Sonny finds himself back at square one with no clear strategy left.
With his first attempt ending in failure, the story now appears ready to take a much darker direction. Viewers are beginning to wonder whether Sonny will decide that subtle persuasion is no longer enough. If he believes Valentin cannot be removed from Carly’s life through words alone, could he resort to far more dangerous methods to eliminate his rival permanently?
The biggest question now is whether Sonny’s obsession with controlling Carly’s romantic choices will ultimately destroy his own growing relationship with Justine Turner.
