Drew may believe he has finally found the perfect weapon to use against Sonny, but his biggest mistake could be trusting Ava Jerome. Their unlikely alliance already feels dangerous, especially because Ava has never pretended to actually like Drew. She may be willing to work with him, but that does not mean she is willing to go down with him. And if Drew crosses one line involving Avery, Ava could turn on him so brutally that he never sees the betrayal coming.

From the beginning, Ava and Drew’s partnership has been about mutual benefit, not loyalty. Ava needs leverage against Sonny, while Drew needs someone who understands exactly where Sonny is vulnerable. That makes them useful to each other, but it certainly does not make them friends. Ava has survived too many dangerous alliances to blindly trust another ambitious man with his own agenda.
That is why Ava may already have an insurance policy.
Imagine Ava secretly recording her conversations with Drew. A burner phone hidden nearby, a recorder quietly running inside her purse, screenshots of private messages, or copies of documents Drew believes are safely under his control could give Ava protection if their partnership collapses. Drew might think he is bringing Ava deeper into his plan, while she is quietly building an entire case against him.
At first, Ava may have no intention of using that evidence. She could simply want protection in case Drew decides to betray her first. But everything changes if Drew finally uncovers the leverage he has been desperately seeking against Sonny. Drew could become so confident that he tells Ava not only what he discovered, but exactly how he intends to use it.
That could be the moment Drew makes a catastrophic mistake.
If his plan targets Sonny personally, Ava might stay silent. She has plenty of reasons to fight Sonny herself. But if Drew’s scheme threatens Sonny’s family, creates another custody nightmare, or puts Avery anywhere near the fallout, Ava’s priorities could change instantly. She may dislike Sonny, but Avery is a completely different matter.
Avery could become Ava’s red line.
The second Ava realizes Drew is willing to risk her daughter to win his war, their alliance could effectively be over. Drew just would not know it yet. Instead of confronting him, Ava could continue smiling, listening and encouraging him to reveal even more.
Then comes the scene that could change everything.
Sonny opens his door and finds Ava standing there unexpectedly. He immediately assumes she wants something, but Ava does not argue. She walks inside, places a recorder or burner phone on the table and looks directly at him.
“You need to hear this.”
She presses play.
Drew’s voice fills the room.
Sonny hears Drew describing his strategy, revealing what he has discovered and explaining exactly how he intends to strike. Suddenly, Sonny realizes Ava has handed him something far more valuable than a warning. She has potentially given him the ammunition needed to turn Drew’s own scheme against him.
But the biggest twist would be what this reveals about Ava.
She was never really Team Drew.
She may not be Team Sonny either.
Ava is Team Ava — and, above everything else, Team Avery.
That distinction could create one of the strangest temporary alliances in Port Charles. Sonny and Ava do not need to forgive each other. They do not even need to trust each other. If Drew becomes a threat to Avery, they only need one shared objective: stop him before he goes any further.
And Ava could make the betrayal even more devastating by pretending nothing has changed.
She returns to Drew and continues discussing their next move. Drew believes Sonny remains completely unaware of what is coming. Ava lets him believe he is still controlling the game, while Sonny quietly prepares his counterattack.
Drew could walk directly into a trap built from his own words.
That would be the ultimate reversal. Drew wanted Ava because he believed she could help him expose Sonny’s weaknesses. Instead, every secret he shared with Ava could become another weapon Sonny can use against him.
The question then becomes how far Sonny and Ava would let Drew go before revealing the truth. They could expose him immediately — or allow him to continue long enough to collect even more evidence.
Either way, Drew may eventually discover that the woman he thought was his secret weapon was actually the person who destroyed his entire strategy.
This remains a theory rather than a confirmed spoiler, but it fits the dangerous foundation of Ava and Drew’s alliance perfectly. Ava working with Drew does not automatically mean she trusts him, and if Avery becomes collateral damage, loyalty could disappear in seconds.
Drew thinks Ava is helping him bring Sonny down.
But what if Ava has been recording him the entire time?
And what happens when Drew finally realizes Sonny already knows everything?
