Caroline’s warning about Tomas on August 12 may have been far more revealing than it initially appeared. When Naomi asked for her opinion about Tomas, Caroline did not simply say that she disliked him. Her judgment carried a level of certainty that felt unusually strong considering viewers have not been shown a major incident that would fully explain why she distrusts him. That raises one explosive possibility: what did Caroline see that viewers never saw?
The timing makes this even more suspicious. Caroline has positioned herself as an observer around the law firm, which means she is in a unique position to notice things other characters might miss. She knows how people behave when they think nobody is watching. If her distrust of Tomas comes from something she witnessed rather than simple personality conflict, then her brief warning to Naomi could be the beginning of a much larger reveal.
One theory fits the existing storyline particularly well: Caroline may have once seen Tomas accessing a file in Bill’s office that he was never supposed to touch. Imagine Caroline staying late at the office and noticing Tomas going through a confidential file. At the time, she may have assumed it was simply another questionable move from a man she already did not trust. She would have had no reason to believe that the file would become important later.
But everything changes after Bill’s health crisis, Naomi’s questions about the prenup, and Tomas becoming increasingly territorial. Suddenly, Caroline could have a reason to remember that night. The thing she dismissed as suspicious behavior may have actually been connected to a much larger investigation.
And there is one name that could make that forgotten file explosive: Lynette Wise. Tomas already has a connection to the Lynette storyline. He previously received intelligence concerning Lynette and even sought out Vanessa for information about her. That established history gives the secret-file theory a much stronger foundation than a completely random accusation against Tomas.
If Caroline remembers seeing Tomas open a Lynette-related file before evidence connected to the case disappeared, the entire situation changes. Tomas would suddenly become a potential missing link between Bill’s office, Lynette, and information that someone desperately wanted kept hidden. More importantly, Caroline would have been carrying a piece of information that could explain exactly why she has never trusted Tomas.
But there is an even bigger twist: Tomas may not be the villain at all. What if Bill secretly instructed him to investigate Hayley? In that scenario, Caroline could have witnessed Tomas accessing confidential material without knowing why he was doing it. From her perspective, Tomas looked like someone crossing a line. From Bill’s perspective, he may have been carrying out a private assignment.
That would also explain why Tomas might refuse to give Naomi a straightforward answer. Naomi could confront him about what he has been doing, expecting an explanation. Tomas would then face an impossible choice. He could reveal Bill’s confidential instructions and betray Bill’s trust, or remain silent and allow Naomi to believe he is protecting Hayley.
That conflict is much more interesting than simply turning Tomas into another secret villain. It gives the character an actual dilemma while allowing Caroline’s suspicion to remain completely understandable. She could be telling the truth about what she saw while being completely wrong about what it meant.
The most important question, therefore, is not whether Caroline dislikes Tomas. The real question is why does she distrust him so strongly? If the August 12 conversation was deliberate foreshadowing, Caroline may eventually reveal that her opinion was based on something she personally witnessed inside Bill’s office.
And that could be the moment the Tomas–Lynette connection comes roaring back into the story.
For now, the evidence needs to be separated carefully. Caroline’s distrust of Tomas is established. Tomas’s connection to the Lynette storyline has a foundation. But Caroline actually witnessing Tomas access a secret file is still theory, not confirmed fact. The possibility that Bill ordered Tomas to investigate Hayley is an even deeper layer of speculation.
That distinction is exactly what makes the theory compelling. The writers would not need to make Tomas secretly evil. They would only need to reveal that Caroline saw something real — but misunderstood what she was seeing.
If that is where this storyline is heading, Naomi’s next confrontation with Tomas could expose far more than his intentions. It could finally reveal what Caroline saw, why she kept quiet, and whether that mysterious file contained the missing piece connecting Tomas, Lynette, Bill, and Hayley.
Caroline may have already seen the evidence. She just may not have understood what it meant.
