If Drew suddenly makes an enormous bid that Sonny cannot easily explain, the biggest question will not be whether Sonny can beat the number. It will be where Drew found the resources to make that move in the first place.
That is where Ric could become the first person to recognize that something does not add up. Sonny might initially see Drew’s bid as another aggressive attempt to challenge him, but Ric understands that winning a financial war requires more than anger. He could look at Drew’s apparent position, compare it with the size of his move, and ask the question that changes everything: Does Drew actually have the money to do this?

The crucial twist would not be Brick suddenly announcing that Drew committed fraud. There is no confirmed evidence supporting that conclusion. The stronger possibility is that Brick discovers Drew’s financial trail does not actually end with Drew. Somewhere behind the companies, partners, or financing arrangements could be another source of power — someone Sonny never realized had entered the fight.
Suddenly, Drew’s extraordinary confidence would make much more sense.
Perhaps Drew never believed he could personally outspend Sonny. Perhaps he knew he would never need to. If someone else is providing the resources necessary to keep Drew in the fight, then every aggressive move he makes becomes more dangerous. Sonny would no longer be dealing with one rival. He would be dealing with Drew and an unseen player whose real objective remains unknown.
That creates an even bigger question: Who wants Sonny to lose badly enough to back Drew?
The most explosive answer would not be a random new villain. General Hospital could get far more mileage from revealing that the money leads back to someone already standing somewhere on the Port Charles chessboard. Brick could trace one company into another, discover a familiar connection, and realize the corporate battle has secretly been linked to another storyline all along.
That would give the story two separate bombshells instead of one. The first reveal is that Drew may not be fighting alone. The second — and potentially much bigger reveal — is the identity of whoever is standing behind him.
It would also give Sonny exactly the kind of storyline many viewers want to see. He would not overcome Drew simply by throwing more money around or intimidating him. Ric identifies the inconsistency. Sonny recognizes that he needs intelligence rather than force. Brick uncovers the hidden connection. Sonny wins the next round because he starts thinking strategically.
But Brick’s discovery should not immediately destroy Drew. In fact, it could make Drew considerably more dangerous. Finding evidence of outside backing would only tell Sonny that the battlefield is larger than he believed. He would still have to discover what the secret player wants, how deeply Drew is involved, and whether Drew is controlling the arrangement — or being used by someone even more powerful.
The perfect cliffhanger practically writes itself. Brick returns to Sonny with a tablet or financial file and places it on the desk. He explains that he followed Drew’s money through multiple layers until the trail finally reached somewhere unexpected. Sonny looks at the information, realizes Drew was never the end of the trail, and asks one question.
“Who’s behind him?”
And that is where the episode cuts away.
Because if Drew makes a bid Sonny cannot explain, the real bombshell is not how much money Drew has.
It is whose money he is actually using.
