The perfect trigger begins with Brick doing what he does best: following information nobody else knows how to find. A burner phone, an encrypted drive, a hidden transaction, or an abandoned WSB communication could suddenly surface in the aftermath of Brennan’s latest moves. To Carly or Sonny, it might look meaningless. To Brick, however, the encryption itself would be a warning. Someone went to extraordinary lengths to make sure the information stayed buried.
That someone could be Brennan. For a man who built his power around intelligence, Brennan rarely acted without knowing more than the people around him. Josslyn Jacks immediately becomes one of the most explosive possibilities. Her connection to Brennan’s intelligence world has already pulled her into situations Carly never wanted for her daughter. Carly knows Josslyn is strong and independent, but she may not understand just how dangerous the intelligence game around her has become. Brick could be the first person to realize that Brennan’s interest in Josslyn was connected to something larger than recruitment, protection, or simple usefulness.
The discovery would put Brick in an impossible position. Carly trusts him because he gives her information without unnecessary drama. Sonny trusts him because Brick understands when knowledge is more valuable than force.
