Once Bill arrived, Hayley was supposed to give him a massive final dose of the poison. Randy had already arranged for a contact to fast-track Bill’s cremation without an autopsy and provide the paperwork Hayley needed. The family would be told that Bill’s heart simply stopped.
That detail changes everything about the poisoning storyline. Randy understood that getting rid of Bill was only half the job. Getting rid of the evidence was just as important. If Bill died in Fairmont Crest under suspicious circumstances, doctors, family members and investigators could examine what happened. In St. Bart’s, Randy believed he could control what happened afterward. The financial payoff was enormous. Hayley expected to collect Bill’s $10 million insurance payout after his death, while Randy reminded her that his share would be $5 million. That is why Randy’s St. Bart’s plan matters so much. His greatest fear was not simply that Bill would survive. Every person watching Bill closely created another potential witness.
