Brennan Saw Ava Drug His Drink—Now Drew Is Walking Into a WSB Trap

This article presents an original GH theory based on the August 28 episode and upcoming preview clues. It is not a confirmed spoiler.

Jack Brennan may look like Drew and Ava’s latest victim, but underestimating a veteran WSB operative could become the most disastrous mistake either of them has made.

Ava followed Drew’s instructions and crushed the pill he gave her before slipping it into Brennan’s drink. She believed the drug would keep Brennan occupied while Drew broke into his room and recovered the evidence Brennan had been using against him. Brennan appeared distracted, emotionally shaken and completely unaware of the danger sitting inches away from him. The August 28 episode confirmed Ava drugged Brennan’s drink.

But what if Brennan saw everything?

Brennan has spent years surviving intelligence operations, betrayals and assassination attempts. He knows how people behave when they are hiding something, and Ava was hardly subtle. She hesitated before accepting Drew’s assignment, crushed the pill in a public place and tampered with Brennan’s drink while he was only a short distance away.

Our theory is that Brennan noticed the change immediately. Instead of confronting Ava, he returned to the table, drank from the glass and allowed her to believe the drug had worked.

That decision would transform the entire storyline. Drew thinks he has temporarily neutralized the only man holding evidence capable of destroying him. Ava thinks she completed her part of the plan without being caught. In reality, both could be walking directly into an operation Brennan designed the moment he recognized the betrayal.

The first stage of Brennan’s trap would be his collapse. Whether he falls beside the Metro Court pool or ends up in the water, the scene would create exactly the distraction Drew needs. Ava would focus on hiding her involvement while Drew rushed toward Brennan’s room and the black-box evidence he desperately wants.

That is precisely why Brennan could let the plan continue.

Stopping Ava would only prove that she drugged him. Allowing Drew to proceed could reveal the conspiracy’s full structure: who supplied the pill, what evidence Drew wants, how he intends to bypass hotel security and what he plans to do after recovering the material.

Drew would believe he was destroying the case against him. Instead, he could be documenting it.

Charlotte may become the unexpected person who prevents Brennan’s trap from turning fatal. The weekly preview shows her entering the closed Metro Court pool after dark, while the September 1 description says she will become alarmed. Reddit viewers have already connected those clues and predicted she will discover Brennan in or near the water. Reddit spoiler discussion

The obvious interpretation is that Charlotte finds Brennan’s body. The sharper twist is that she finds him alive.

Imagine Charlotte diving into the pool and pulling Brennan toward the surface, only for him to regain consciousness and tell her not to call for help. His first priority would not be medical treatment. It would be keeping Drew and Ava convinced that their operation succeeded.

Charlotte would instantly become Brennan’s secret witness. She could confirm where she found him, preserve evidence of the drugging and help establish the timeline connecting Ava’s actions to Drew’s break-in. Her connection to Valentin would make her involvement even more dangerous, especially if Brennan cannot determine whether Valentin is an ally or another threat.

The theory also gives Brennan a powerful exit route. Chris McKenna’s departure from General Hospital has been reported, with Brennan purportedly set to be killed off, but the precise on-screen mechanism has not been officially revealed. Soap Opera Digest’s casting report

A staged death would allow everyone in Port Charles to believe Brennan is gone while he continues operating from the shadows. Drew would expose himself, Ava would discover that she had been used, and Carly could eventually receive proof that Brennan anticipated the attack.

There is one serious weakness in this theory: Brennan was already drinking alcohol when Ava added the crushed pill. Even if he detected something unusual, he may not have known the dosage or how quickly the combination would incapacitate him. What begins as a calculated performance could therefore become a genuine medical emergency.

That danger makes the twist stronger. Brennan may intend to fake his collapse but lose consciousness before completing the trap, leaving Charlotte to decide whether to expose him or protect his operation.

Drew believes Ava has removed Brennan from the board. Ava believes one crushed pill has bought them enough time to win. But if Brennan recognized the setup, his apparent defeat is not the end of the operation.

It is the moment Drew steps inside the cage.
