Brennan’s Death Exposes His Secret WSB Pact With Valentin

This is an original GH theory built from current scenes and character history—not a confirmed spoiler.

Ava believes one crushed pill will remove Jack Brennan long enough for Drew to steal the evidence controlling him. But Brennan’s apparent defeat could activate a secret agreement no one in Port Charles knows exists—one connecting him directly to the man everyone considers his enemy.

Valentin Cassadine may be the only person capable of making Brennan disappear.

Drew gave Ava a sleeping pill and ordered her to keep Brennan occupied while he targeted Brennan’s hotel room. Ava subsequently crushed the pill and slipped it into Brennan’s drink beside the Metro Court pool. Her assignment appeared straightforward: incapacitate Brennan, clear the path and give Drew enough time to recover the material Brennan was using against him. The August 28 recap confirms the drugging and Drew’s objective.

The plan becomes more dangerous because Brennan is not an ordinary target. As a senior WSB operative, he understands surveillance, extraction protocols and the value of creating insurance against betrayal. He also shares a complicated operational history with Valentin through the WSB and Pikeman.

Their current hostility makes a secret pact seem impossible. Brennan’s relationship with Carly collapsed after she worked with Valentin against him, and the two men have every reason to distrust each other.

That distrust, however, creates the perfect cover.

Our theory is that Brennan and Valentin established an emergency protocol before their alliance deteriorated. If either man were poisoned, captured or exposed, the other would recover him, protect his intelligence files and stage an exit before their enemies could finish the job.

The pact would not require friendship. It would exist because each man possesses information capable of destroying the other.

Ava’s drugging could activate that protocol. Brennan becomes disoriented near the Metro Court pool and disappears into the water, leaving Ava convinced that the pill produced a catastrophic reaction. Drew proceeds toward Brennan’s room, expecting to find an unconscious opponent and an unprotected black box.

Then Charlotte enters the closed pool after dark.

Upcoming episode information says Charlotte becomes alarmed, while the weekly preview places her at the pool. Reddit viewers have already connected those details to Brennan and predicted she could discover his body in the water. Current Reddit spoiler discussion

But Charlotte may not find a dead man. She could find Brennan barely alive—and immediately contact Valentin.

That gives the theory its cinematic turning point. Valentin arrives, sees his former WSB partner unconscious and recognizes a signal Brennan left behind: a code on his phone, a concealed transmitter or an emergency message sent before the drug fully took effect.

Instead of calling an ambulance, Valentin removes Brennan from the scene.

To Ava, Drew and the rest of Port Charles, Brennan appears to have died or vanished after the drugging. In reality, Valentin moves him to a secure location and begins the second part of their pact: protecting Brennan’s evidence before Drew can destroy it.

Charlotte becomes the operation’s greatest vulnerability. She witnesses Valentin rescuing the man he supposedly hates and learns that their public feud concealed a deeper connection. If she tells Lulu, Carly or the police what she saw, Brennan’s staged disappearance collapses.

Carly creates an even more dangerous complication.

Valentin has developed a close alliance with her, while Brennan’s romantic history with Carly remains emotionally charged. If the secret protocol demands that Valentin keep Brennan’s survival hidden from everyone, he must lie directly to Carly while she fears Brennan is dead.

That lie could destroy whatever trust Carly and Valentin have built.

The pact could also explain why Brennan and Valentin have repeatedly failed to eliminate one another despite possessing the knowledge and resources to do so. Their confrontations may have been real, but both men understood there was a boundary they could not cross. Killing one would risk releasing the other’s insurance files—or exposing a WSB operation capable of implicating them both.

There is an important counterargument. Valentin may have no desire to save Brennan after everything involving Carly, Josslyn and the WSB. He could reach the pool, recognize Brennan’s emergency signal and choose to let the pact die with him.

That possibility gives the rescue its sharpest twist.

Valentin could save Brennan only because he needs the black-box evidence against Drew. Once Brennan is secure, Valentin must decide whether to honor their agreement or steal the files and abandon his former partner.

Chris McKenna’s departure from General Hospital has been reported, and Brennan has purportedly been marked for death. However, the exact on-screen fate has not been officially revealed. Soap Opera Digest’s casting report

A staged death would therefore preserve the consequences of Brennan’s exit without permanently closing the character’s story. Drew would believe he had won. Ava would live under the threat of a murder investigation. Charlotte would carry another dangerous secret, and Valentin would control evidence capable of deciding who falls next.

Brennan and Valentin do not need to be friends for this theory to work.

They only need to know that their secrets are safer while both men remain alive.
