PHYLLIS PICKS SHARON AS MATT’S NEXT VICTIM — BUT SHARON COULD DISCOVER THE SETUP AND TURN THE ENTIRE TRAP AGAINST HER!

Phyllis Summers has just crossed a line that could completely destroy her. Determined to convince Genoa City that Matt Clark deserves another chance, Phyllis has chosen Sharon Newman as the unsuspecting target of a staged emergency. Matt is supposed to rescue Sharon, emerge as a hero, and use her gratitude to repair his ruined reputation. However, Phyllis may have badly underestimated the woman she intends to manipulate.

The scheme began when Phyllis and Matt discussed how to prove that he had genuinely changed. Matt initially suggested rescuing Phyllis from danger, but she quickly rejected that idea. Their growing connection is no longer a secret, so nobody would trust a heroic rescue involving the two of them. Phyllis decided they needed someone closer to the Newmans—and Sharon became the perfect target.

That decision is especially disturbing because Sharon is not simply another Genoa City resident. She is one of the people most deeply affected by Matt’s violent past. Phyllis knows exactly what Matt represents to Sharon, Nick and their family, yet she is still prepared to use Sharon’s trauma as a tool. This is no longer merely about helping Matt. Phyllis is manufacturing danger around an innocent woman to control how everyone sees him.

Phyllis believes Sharon is the ideal choice because she has shown some willingness to believe Matt might feel remorse. If Matt saves Sharon and Sharon publicly acknowledges his apparent bravery, the Newmans could be pressured to reconsider their opposition. In Phyllis’ mind, Sharon’s approval would become Matt’s fastest path to redemption. Unfortunately for Phyllis, Sharon has already demonstrated that she is watching both of them closely.

Before this plan was created, Sharon warned Phyllis that Matt could still be dangerous. She questioned whether Phyllis’ loneliness was clouding her judgment and insisted that Matt could never give her what she was searching for. Sharon even tried to protect Phyllis from the man who had taken so much from her. Phyllis dismissed the warning, but that conversation established one crucial fact: Sharon is already suspicious.

If a strange emergency suddenly unfolds and Matt appears at exactly the right moment, Sharon could recognize the setup before the rescue is completed. She knows Matt’s history, understands Phyllis’ impulsive behavior and has every reason to question an impossibly convenient coincidence. Instead of panicking, Sharon could pretend to believe the danger is real while quietly observing how Matt and Phyllis behave.

That opens the door to the most satisfying reversal: Sharon knowingly walks into their trap and rebuilds it around them. She could record Matt’s instructions, plant a camera or deliberately change one detail of the staged emergency. When Matt arrives expecting to perform his heroic rescue, Sharon could confront him with proof that she already knows the truth. Phyllis would then lose control of the spectacle she created.

Matt’s hesitation could become another weakness in Phyllis’ plan. He did not appear entirely comfortable with using Sharon, which suggests he could turn against Phyllis before anyone gets hurt. If Matt truly wants redemption, warning Sharon would be a far more convincing act than participating in a fake rescue. Sharon might even persuade him to continue pretending so they can expose Phyllis together.

Patty could also become the unexpected person who helps Sharon uncover everything. Matt recently visited Patty, placing her dangerously close to the center of this storyline. Patty understands his past and knows how reckless Phyllis can become when she believes she is in control. One overheard conversation, mysterious message or badly timed warning could give Sharon the clue she needs.

The most dangerous possibility is that Phyllis’ controlled crisis becomes a real emergency. Something could malfunction, an outsider could interfere, or Matt could lose control of the situation. Sharon might then be forced to save herself—and possibly rescue Phyllis as well. That reversal would destroy the entire purpose of the scheme. Sharon, the intended victim, would become the genuine hero, while Matt’s staged redemption collapsed publicly.

Many viewers are exhausted by stories that repeatedly place Sharon in danger and wait for Nick or another man to rescue her. This storyline offers an opportunity to change that pattern. Sharon should not remain a passive victim in a plan built from her own painful history. She should be the person who recognizes the manipulation, gathers the evidence and decides exactly when Phyllis learns that her secret has been exposed.

If Sharon turns the trap against its creator, the consequences could reach far beyond Phyllis and Matt. Nick would discover that Phyllis knowingly endangered Sharon while he was struggling with his recovery. Lauren and Michael would realize their warnings had been ignored. Matt’s claim that he has changed would face its ultimate test, and Phyllis could lose every person still willing to defend her.

Phyllis thinks she has selected the perfect victim for Matt’s performance. What she may have actually chosen is the one woman capable of seeing through the entire setup. Sharon has survived far worse than one of Phyllis’ reckless games—and this time, she could make sure the person caught in the trap is Phyllis herself.
