Hayley may have just made the mistake she cannot take back. Naomi and Tomas were not hunting her. They were not secretly building a case against her, and the breakthrough they celebrated had nothing to do with Randy or Hayley’s increasingly shaky story. But Hayley did not know that when she walked in on them, and that misunderstanding could be exactly what finally puts Naomi and Tomas on the trail she has spent months trying to bury.

One nervous question about what Naomi and Tomas found, one sudden attempt to get close to their files, or one frantic conversation with Randy could immediately tell Tomas that something is wrong. After all, he knows exactly what they were celebrating. If their discovery was only about Madison, why would Hayley care?
That question could finally turn Tomas into the ally Kat wanted months ago. Instead of Naomi convincing him to investigate Hayley, Hayley could convince him herself. Tomas has already shown that he knows how to look for contradictions buried inside documents and digital history. Once he and Naomi begin asking why Hayley was so interested in their work, they would not have to search very far before Madison’s case points them toward something much more dangerous.
Buried inside that case is a moment Hayley probably never expected anyone to examine again: Bill’s disastrous deposition. That distinction could become devastating. Naomi and Tomas would not need to prove immediately what happened to Bill. They could reconstruct when his condition visibly changed, who was around him, what happened before and afterward, and how Hayley behaved as his symptoms became increasingly serious. A legal record created for Madison’s lawsuit could suddenly provide an independent timeline of Bill’s decline.

If she assumes Naomi and Tomas already know something, she could contact Randy, move something, delete something or simply say too much while trying to discover what they found. The cruel irony would be perfect: Naomi and Tomas initially had nothing on Hayley at all.
