Everyone in Fairmont Crest has accepted the same family story for months. Eva is Ted and Leslie’s daughter. Kat is Ted and Nicole’s daughter. That makes Eva and Kat paternal half-sisters, and almost every fight between them has been built around that uncomfortable connection. But there is one problem hiding underneath that accepted truth: the test that originally changed Eva’s life established Ted’s paternity. It did not necessarily answer every genetic question surrounding Eva and Kat.
That distinction suddenly matters because of what happened when Eva nearly died. After Eva suffered devastating liver damage, doctors desperately searched for a donor. Ted was tested. Other possibilities were explored. Eventually the person everyone least expected became the answer: Kat. Kat had saved the half-sister she still struggled to accept.

Eva’s transplant created something the original paternity drama never did: an extensive medical trail connecting Eva and Kat.
