SHARON FINDS NICK’S UNANSWERED MESSAGE — HIS SEPTEMBER 25 DECISION REOPENS THE MATT CLARK NIGHTMARE!

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS SPOILERS

Sharon Newman knows that Nick has been trying to regain control of his life while Matt Clark remains an unsettling presence in Genoa City. She also knows that Nick has a habit of hiding his worst fears when he believes the people he loves need him to be strong. But an unanswered message on his phone could reveal that his September 25 decision involves far more than another disagreement with Victor. Someone has contacted Nick about Matt, and the detail inside the message forces Sharon to confront a terrifying possibility: Nick may be preparing to face his old enemy without telling anyone.

The discovery begins when Sharon notices that Nick has been unusually distracted. He checks his phone during their conversation, then places it facedown when she asks whether something is wrong. Nick insists he is simply dealing with family matters and does not want another argument about Victor. Sharon does not believe him. She has seen the difference between Nick being angry and Nick being frightened. Whatever is bothering him seems to have pulled him back into a part of his past he has spent years trying to leave behind.

When Nick steps away, his phone lights up with a message preview. Sharon does not need to open the entire conversation to recognize the name displayed on the screen. Matt Clark. The message contains only a few words: “YOU STILL HAVEN’T ANSWERED MY QUESTION.” Sharon immediately asks Nick what Matt wants. Nick is furious that she has seen the message. He claims there is nothing she needs to worry about and that he has no intention of letting Matt control his life again.

But Sharon notices that he has not denied being in contact with him. Nick finally explains that he received an earlier message asking for a private meeting. He ignored it, assuming Matt was trying to provoke him. Then a second message arrived. This time, Matt referred to a detail from their shared history that Nick believed only a handful of people knew. Nick will not repeat the detail. That refusal frightens Sharon more than the message itself.

She asks whether Matt is threatening him. Nick says the situation is more complicated. Matt claims he wants to correct something Nick has believed for years, but he will only explain it in person. Sharon recognizes the trap. Matt does not need to prove that his information is genuine. He only needs to convince Nick that refusing the meeting could leave an important question unanswered. And Nick has never been good at walking away from a question involving someone he loves.

Sharon urges him to tell Victor. Nick refuses. He believes Victor will take control of the situation, arrange another confrontation, and turn Nick’s personal decision into a Newman family operation. Nick is tired of having other people decide how he should respond to Matt. But Sharon challenges the idea that meeting Matt alone would prove he has regained control. She asks Nick whether the decision is truly his or whether Matt has already dictated the terms by choosing the location, timing, and subject of their next conversation.

Nick has no immediate answer. Then Sharon discovers the second part of the message. Matt included an image of an old location connected to Nick’s past. The photograph appears recent, but the message beneath it refers to an event from years earlier. “ASK YOUR FATHER WHY HE NEVER TOLD YOU.” Now Sharon understands why Nick has been avoiding Victor. Matt has not merely asked for a meeting. He has suggested that Victor knows something Nick does not.

The accusation is designed to make Nick distrust the very person most likely to intervene. Sharon refuses to let Matt decide who Nick can speak to. She suggests they verify the photograph and the claim independently before Nick responds. Nick initially argues that waiting gives Matt another opportunity to disappear. Sharon tells him that rushing into a meeting could give Matt exactly what he wants. Their disagreement leads to the difficult decision Nick has been avoiding: whether to continue handling the situation privately or admit that he needs help.

Nick finally agrees not to meet Matt alone. But he makes Sharon promise that Victor will not be allowed to take over without Nick knowing what is happening. Sharon agrees to help him establish the facts first. The moment seems like progress until Nick receives another message. This one contains a time and a place. Underneath is a sentence that turns the entire situation upside down: “BRING SHARON IF YOU WANT. SHE DESERVES THE ANSWER TOO.”

Sharon realizes Matt may have anticipated Nick showing her the messages all along. The unanswered question was never intended for Nick alone. And his September 25 decision may determine whether both of them are pulled back into a nightmare they believed was finally behind them.
