LOGAN’S DEATH LEFT ONE FINAL QUESTION MARIE NEVER ANSWERED — AND NICK COULD BE DRAGGED INTO A DNA WAR WITH A DEAD MAN!

Logan Kirkland may be dead, but his shadow over Nick and Marie’s story could be far from finished. Marie’s shocking return through a second overdose has reopened everything Nick thought he had left behind — and one unresolved piece of her marriage could transform this relapse storyline into a full-blown paternity nightmare.

The key is the timeline.

Marie and Nick formed an intensely personal connection while both were struggling with addiction. Their bond crossed a line, and by the time Logan arrived at rehab, Nick was already far more involved in Marie’s life than anyone could dismiss as casual friendship.

There was just one enormous complication.

Marie was still Logan’s wife.

Logan’s arrival immediately changed the atmosphere. He recognized Nick, mocked Marie’s connection to him and became increasingly aggressive. When he grabbed Marie during their confrontation, she pushed him away.

Logan fell.

And he never got back up.

Nick’s instinct was immediate: protect Marie.

He initially tried to take responsibility for Logan’s death himself, demonstrating just how emotionally invested he had already become. Marie eventually stopped Nick from sacrificing himself and admitted what had really happened.

Police ultimately treated Logan’s death as self-defense, apparently closing that chapter.

But what if Logan’s death closed the criminal question while leaving a completely different one behind?

Marie eventually left Genoa City after Nick believed she was going back East to stay near family. Now Adam has discovered that she apparently has no family at all, and Marie has resurfaced unconscious after another overdose.

That means two mysteries have suddenly collided.

Why did Marie lie about where she was going?

And what happened between Logan’s death and her disappearance that Nick still doesn’t know?

A pregnancy twist would connect those questions in the most explosive way possible.

There is currently no confirmation that Marie is pregnant. But if Y&R chooses that direction, the obvious assumption would be that Nick is the father because of their intimacy.

The more dangerous soap question would be whether that assumption could immediately be challenged.

Logan was still Marie’s husband before his death. The show has not established enough about Marie and Logan’s private timeline to declare that Logan could biologically be the father of a hypothetical child. That uncertainty, however, is precisely where a classic DNA mystery could begin.

Nick could suddenly find himself emotionally attached before paternity is established.

That would be brutal for him.

Nick is already behaving as though Marie’s survival is partly his responsibility. The instant he learned she had overdosed again, he wanted to cover her medical expenses. He also became consumed with finding Joe, convinced that someone needed to answer for what happened to her.

Now imagine that hospital crisis producing another revelation.

Nick could go from trying to save Marie to believing he has another child on the way.

Then Logan’s name resurfaces.

A dead man would suddenly become Nick’s biggest rival in a battle that could not be settled through confrontation, money or Newman power. Only DNA could answer it.

The emotional consequences would stretch far beyond Marie.

Sharon is already trying to stop Nick from destroying himself over this situation. The Newman family is terrified that Marie’s crisis could threaten his sobriety. Victor wants to protect his son. Adam is becoming increasingly involved in keeping Nick from making another catastrophic decision.

A paternity mystery would trap every one of them inside Marie’s story.

And Marie herself might not even have the answer.

That is what makes Logan’s continued shadow so useful dramatically. His death prevents Nick from confronting him or demanding explanations. Every question would instead lead back to Marie, her missing weeks and whatever she was hiding when she claimed she was leaving Genoa City for family.

The second overdose therefore may not be the biggest shock in Marie’s return.

It could simply be what puts her in the hospital long enough for another secret to surface.

If that happens, Nick will face a question much more dangerous than whether he can save Marie again.

He will have to ask whether the future he suddenly believes belongs to him actually belongs to the man whose death he once tried to take the blame for.

Logan may be gone.

But one DNA result could bring him straight back into Nick and Marie’s lives.
