ABC REVEALS ROBERT SCORPIO’S FINAL TRIBUTE WINDOW — 45 YEARS OF FLASHBACKS, FAMILY RETURNS AND ONE LAST GOODBYE AWAIT!

General Hospital may finally be preparing the goodbye viewers have been waiting more than a year to see. ABC previously indicated that Robert Scorpio would receive a proper send-off later in 2026, and now one seemingly innocent update from Felicia has suddenly made that promise feel dangerously close. Robert is supposed to return to Port Charles with Holly, close out his tenure as district attorney, and then settle permanently in France. But for longtime fans, that homecoming already feels less like a new beginning and more like the opening chapter of Robert Scorpio’s final tribute.

The timing is impossible to ignore. Earlier this year, ABC executive Nathan Varni revealed that GH was working on a story to honor both Tristan Rogers and the legendary character he played for decades. The plan was expected to unfold later in 2026. Now, with the calendar moving toward the end of the year, GH has suddenly put Robert’s name back into active dialogue and given him a specific reason to come home.

That October 6 clue changed everything. Felicia told Anna that Robert and Holly would soon visit Port Charles so Robert could officially finish his duties as D.A. Afterward, the couple planned to make France their permanent home. Anna was happy Robert was retiring, but admitted she had always imagined Port Charles would ultimately be where he settled down.

That line could become heartbreaking in retrospect.

ABC has not announced an exact airdate for Robert’s tribute, nor has the show confirmed how Robert’s story will end. But the pieces now fit the window viewers were given earlier in the year. If Robert’s promised homecoming is the mechanism that launches his farewell, GH may not need to show his death at all. The devastating news could arrive before Robert ever reaches Port Charles, allowing the story to shift immediately from tragedy to remembrance.

And remembrance is exactly what fans are demanding.

Viewers do not simply want someone to walk into a room, announce Robert’s death, and move on to the next storyline. Fans are asking for old footage, classic adventures, family memories and the history that made Robert Scorpio one of GH’s defining characters. Tristan Rogers first brought Robert to Port Charles in 1980, giving the show more than four decades of material that could turn one tribute into a journey through several eras of General Hospital.

That means flashbacks could become the true centerpiece.

Robert’s adventures with Luke deserve acknowledgment. So do his complicated histories with Holly and Anna, the revelation that Robin was his daughter, his years as a spy and police commissioner, and the later chapters that ultimately connected him to Sasha and granddaughter Daisy. His final on-screen story gave Robert another chance to embrace family. A tribute could bring that emotional thread full circle.

GH has already shown that it knows how powerful this format can be. When the show honored Luke Spencer, the farewell was about more than simply explaining a character’s death. Port Charles remembered him through the people, places and archival moments that defined his life. Robert deserves that same scale of remembrance, especially because Robert himself once stood among those saying goodbye to Luke.

There is also one enormous question hanging over the potential tribute: Who comes home?

Robin remains the return many viewers want most. Kimberly McCullough has not been confirmed for Robert’s farewell, but it is difficult to imagine a tribute to Robert without his daughter occupying a major emotional place in it. Fans are already openly hoping GH can bring Robin back, even if only briefly, to say goodbye to her father.

Sasha creates another powerful possibility. Robert’s late-life discovery that Sasha was his daughter dramatically expanded the Scorpio family, while Daisy made him a grandfather. Bringing Sasha into the farewell would connect Robert’s earliest family history with the final chapter viewers actually saw Tristan Rogers play.

Then there are Holly, Anna, Mac and Felicia. Each represents a different piece of Robert’s life. Holly carries the romance that followed him into his final years. Anna carries decades of love, conflict and history. Mac represents the Scorpio family itself, while Felicia connects directly to the adventures that helped define an entire era of GH.

That is why Robert’s goodbye cannot feel small.

ABC has not yet revealed exactly when the tribute will air or which returning characters will participate. But it already told viewers that a proper send-off was being developed for later in 2026, and GH has now placed Robert’s return to Port Charles directly on the canvas.

The biggest mystery may no longer be whether Robert Scorpio’s farewell is coming.

It is how much of his extraordinary 45-year history General Hospital will bring back with him before Port Charles — and the fans who loved Tristan Rogers — finally have to say goodbye.
