EVIL MATT HUNTS PATTY DOWN — HIS DARKEST MOVE SAVES NICK NEWMAN FOR THE SECOND TIME, BUT THE PRICE COULD BE TERRIFYING!

Matt Clark may have returned to Genoa City hoping to prove that he is no longer the monster everyone remembers, but one brutal head injury may have changed everything. His darker instincts are awake again, Patty Williams is still missing, and Matt suddenly seems ready to take matters into his own hands. The shocking twist? The most dangerous thing Matt does next could end up saving Nick Newman for the second time.

Matt’s behavior after the crash immediately raised alarms. Alone in his motel room, injured and nearly broke, Matt knew Patty was on the loose and initially believed he needed to warn everyone. Then something inside him changed. His darker voice began telling him that kindness was weakness and that protecting himself mattered more than protecting anyone else.

Matt fought back against those impulses. He insisted there was still something good inside him and desperately wanted to remain the man Phyllis believed he could become. But that battle didn’t end with Matt peacefully accepting his better nature. Instead, he suddenly rose from the bed and walked out with a frightening new sense of purpose.

Where was he going?

The answer may have appeared moments later when Matt secretly entered the Genoa City Athletic Club. Phyllis was proudly showing Sharon and Nick her latest acquisition, completely unaware that Matt was hiding nearby and watching them. Considering Matt’s mental state, that scene felt far too deliberate to ignore.

But Matt may not be watching Nick because he wants to hurt him.

He may be watching because he knows Patty could.

Patty’s disappearance leaves an enormous threat hanging over Genoa City. Matt knows what she is capable of, and after everything that happened during the crash, he has every reason to believe she could strike again. If Matt decides that warning everyone isn’t enough, his newly awakened dark side could reach a much colder conclusion: Patty has to be stopped personally.

That would turn Matt into something far more interesting than a redeemed good guy or a recycled villain.

It would turn him into an antihero.

Matt could hunt Patty using instincts that the gentler version of himself has desperately tried to suppress. He could lie, manipulate and cross boundaries because he believes Patty is too dangerous to be allowed another opportunity to hurt someone. Yet the target of all that darkness would be another threat to Genoa City.

And Nick could unexpectedly become the person who benefits most.

There is already history there. Matt previously stepped in when Nick suffered a medical emergency, helping save his life at a moment when few Newmans had any reason to trust him. That incident became powerful evidence that Matt might genuinely have changed.

Now imagine the cruel symmetry if Matt saves Nick again — except this time he does it after embracing the very darkness everyone feared would return.

Patty could come back looking for revenge, or Nick could simply end up in the wrong place when she resurfaces. Either way, Matt may realize what is happening before anyone else because he knows Patty is free.

That sets up an explosive confrontation.

Nick could find himself facing a danger he never anticipated, only for Matt to appear and do something so ruthless that even Phyllis is left shaken. Matt doesn’t have to become Patty’s victim again. He could become her hunter.

And that is where the storyline could deliver its biggest emotional reversal.

Everyone may see Matt’s changed demeanor and assume the worst. Sharon could fear that the old Matt has returned. Nick could regret ever believing Matt had changed. Phyllis, who has been one of Matt’s strongest believers, could wonder whether she was completely wrong about him.

Then the truth comes out.

Matt’s darkest move wasn’t aimed at the Newmans.

It saved one of them.

There could still be a terrible price. If Patty is seriously injured or disappears after confronting Matt, suspicion would immediately fall on him. His violent history would make him the easiest person in Genoa City to blame, especially now that witnesses could describe his personality changing after the crash.

That could leave Nick facing an impossible moral choice.

Does he condemn Matt because the old monster appears to have returned — or defend the man who may have just saved his life for a second time?

Even Phyllis could be forced to confront an uncomfortable truth. Perhaps she wasn’t wrong when she believed there was goodness inside Matt. Maybe she was only wrong about what that goodness would look like.

Matt may never become completely innocent.

He may never completely silence the man he used to be.

But if that darkness is ultimately what allows him to find Patty before she reaches Nick, Genoa City could witness the strangest redemption of all: Matt Clark becoming dangerous again at exactly the moment a Newman needs him to be.

And if Matt saves Nick for the second time, one terrifying question will remain.

Did Evil Matt really return — or did Genoa City just discover that sometimes it takes a monster to stop one?
