On the surface, it sounded like a simple warning from a man who had finally lost patience with his dangerous sister. But Joey’s decision could signal something far more calculated. Randy’s surveillance has failed, Heather knows she is being watched, and Joey now needs a different strategy. Instead of chasing Heather, Joey can give her exactly what she wants — freedom — and wait for her to expose herself.
Randy’s failure changes everything. Joey ordered him to keep track of Heather because he never trusted her reasons for returning to Fairmont Crest. But Heather quickly realized Randy was following her. She confronted him without showing the slightest fear and essentially demonstrated that Joey’s surveillance operation had become useless. Joey could confront Andre privately and force him to explain everything. What happened between him and Heather in Europe? What did Andre see? Why does Heather still have power over him? And why has Andre been hiding the entire relationship from Dani?
Andre would then face an impossible choice. Continue protecting his secret and risk leaving Dani vulnerable, or tell Joey enough about Heather to help bring her down.
The smartest move for Joey would be to use that fear against Heather.
Once Joey understands what Heather wants from Andre, he can allow Heather to believe she is winning. Andre continues meeting her. Heather becomes increasingly confident. She reveals more about her agenda while Joey quietly gathers the information Randy could never obtain.
Andre becomes the bait.
Heather walks directly into the trap.
That outcome would also deliver something this storyline desperately needs: consequences for The Impaler. Heather has moved through Fairmont Crest intimidating people, inserting herself into relationships and keeping everyone uncertain about her real agenda. Joey turning her own manipulation against her would finally give their sibling rivalry real stakes.
It could also protect the people Joey cares about most. Vanessa has already become close to Heather. Smitty is investigating the Impaler operation. Dani has unknowingly welcomed Heather into her orbit. Joey understands that waiting for his sister to make the first devastating move is no longer an option.
That is why his August 25 promise matters.
“I’ll handle Heather myself.”
It did not have to mean Joey was preparing for a direct confrontation.
It could have meant something much smarter.
