Tessa Porter could be returning to Genoa City with a secret powerful enough to destroy her reunion with Mariah Copeland. After disappearing from the screen for months, Tessa has left viewers wondering where she has been and why her reconciliation with Mariah happened almost entirely off-screen. Now an upcoming conversation between Daniel Romalotti and Mariah could be preparing the ground for an explosive revelation: Tessa is pregnant, and Daniel is the father.

Official spoilers confirm that Daniel will “clear the air” with Mariah on September 3. That description does not mention Tessa or a baby, but Daniel and Mariah have one enormous unresolved issue between them. Daniel fell in love with Tessa while Mariah was gone, and their connection became far more than an innocent friendship.

Tessa and Daniel slept together around New Year’s Eve after months of growing closer through music, grief and loneliness. Tessa felt abandoned by Mariah, who had cut herself off from her wife and daughter. Daniel was still struggling with Heather’s death, and he found someone who understood his pain. Their night together was not a dream or an imagined encounter; a later flashback confirmed that their relationship became intimate.

The timing makes a pregnancy storyline surprisingly plausible. If Tessa conceived at the end of December 2025, she would be approximately eight months pregnant by late August 2026. Her due date would fall around September—exactly when Daniel is scheduled to confront his unfinished history with Mariah.

That timeline also explains Tessa’s long absence. She could have discovered the pregnancy after deciding to give Mariah another chance, then left Genoa City to hide the truth. If she returns visibly pregnant, Daniel would immediately realize the dates match their New Year’s encounter.

Another possibility is even more dramatic: Tessa has already given birth prematurely. She could be forced to return because the baby needs specialized care at Genoa City Memorial. A medical emergency, blood-type discrepancy or request for family history could leave her with no choice but to tell Daniel he has another child.

Tessa would have several emotional reasons to conceal the pregnancy. Mariah had suffered a severe mental-health crisis, abducted Dominic and entered court-ordered treatment. Tessa might fear that revealing she was carrying Daniel’s baby would destroy Mariah’s recovery and eliminate their final chance to rebuild their family.

Protecting Aria would be another powerful motivation. Tessa and Mariah adopted Aria and built their lives around raising her together. Tessa could worry that a biological child with Daniel would destabilize Aria’s home or make Mariah believe she was being replaced.

The story must never suggest that Tessa’s biological baby matters more than Aria. Instead, the conflict should center on secrecy, trust and Daniel’s rights as a father. Tessa may believe she is protecting everyone, but Daniel has a deeply personal reason to reject that decision.

Daniel already has a daughter, Lucy, and his history with her was filled with separation, concealed parentage and painful custody complications. Learning that Tessa withheld another child from him would reopen those wounds. He could understand Tessa’s fear while still being furious that she denied him the opportunity to support her and know his baby.

The revelation would also transform Daniel’s life after Heather. His relationship with Tessa helped him rediscover music and emotional intimacy, but he stepped aside when Mariah agreed to seek treatment. A child would make it impossible for Daniel and Tessa to erase their connection or pretend their affair belonged only to the past.

Mariah would face an equally brutal reality. She returned to Genoa City claiming she had reunited with Tessa and Aria, but viewers never saw the couple repair their marriage. Discovering that Tessa is carrying Daniel’s child would force Mariah to confront everything that happened while she was absent.

Fans have been predicting this twist since March. Several Reddit discussions speculated that Tessa could become pregnant after her night with Daniel. Some viewers welcomed the possibility because they preferred Daniel and Tessa’s chemistry. Others strongly opposed it, arguing that Mariah had already suffered enough and that Daniel did not need another complicated baby storyline.

Tessa’s disappearance revived the theory in August. One viewer even predicted that Daniel and Tessa’s secret child would eventually appear after Tessa gave the baby up without telling him. That version would require more time, but the current calendar offers a cleaner twist: Tessa returns near her due date and reveals the truth before Daniel loses the child’s first years.

The biggest question is whether Daniel’s September 3 conversation with Mariah will close the triangle or reopen it. Daniel could promise to respect the Teriah reunion—only for Tessa to arrive moments later with a pregnancy that makes closure impossible.

A Tessa pregnancy would pull Daniel, Mariah, Aria, Lucy, Sharon and Phyllis into one emotional family crisis. It would also force Y&R to choose between rebuilding Teriah and pursuing the Daniel–Tessa romance that the show spent months developing.

Tessa’s return should already be a major event. If she walks back into Genoa City carrying Daniel’s baby, it will not simply revive a forgotten romance. It will detonate a secret capable of changing three families forever.
