Alone, Drew remembered Nina pushing his wheelchair into the lake and delivered the line that changes the entire frame job: “I told you I’d get even. And your daughter is next.” That word — next — makes Nina’s arrest look less like the end of Drew’s revenge and more like the first move of a plan that still has another piece waiting for Willow.
Drew admitted exactly how calculated Nina’s downfall was. Brennan’s wallet did not accidentally turn up beneath the seat of Nina’s car. Drew put it there himself, then described the setup to Ava as an “insurance policy.” Hours later, that planted evidence was powerful enough for Agent Baines to move Nina into WSB custody while Ric Lansing protested that there was no clear chain of evidence and no body. Nina was not simply unlucky. Drew selected the evidence, selected the target and watched the trap close.
That makes his final warning about Willow much harder to dismiss as an angry threat. Drew had already demonstrated that his revenge depends on evidence, not just intimidation. If Brennan’s wallet was the piece he saved for Nina, what has Drew been waiting to use against Willow?
The timing makes that question even more dangerous. Drew’s real target has every reason to fear evidence connected to Brennan because Jack once possessed exactly the kind of information that could reopen Willow’s darkest secret. Traffic-camera footage had placed Willow on Drew’s street on the night Drew was shot. Brennan later admitted that he used WSB resources to make that footage disappear, helping Willow walk away from a potentially devastating piece of the investigation.
But Brennan made one enormous mistake when he reminded Willow what he had done for her.
Willow secretly recorded him.
She deliberately kept her phone running while Brennan admitted that the WSB had buried the traffic-camera evidence. At the time, the recording looked like Willow’s perfect insurance policy. Brennan had spent months using his knowledge of the shooting to keep leverage over her, and suddenly Willow possessed proof that could destroy him instead. What protected Willow while Brennan was alive, however, could become something very different now that Brennan is gone.
The recording does not erase the original footage. It confirms that the footage existed.
That distinction could become devastating if Drew has uncovered any part of Brennan’s unfinished business. Brennan’s confession points directly back to evidence placing Willow near Drew’s home on the night he was shot. A recording Willow created to protect herself could therefore reopen the very question Brennan helped bury. Drew would not necessarily need the original traffic video sitting in his hands. He would only need enough of Brennan’s trail to prove that something important was deliberately removed.
And Drew’s September 17 wording suggests he is remarkably confident about what comes next.
Look at the order of his revenge. Drew did not attack Willow first, even though Willow was the one he identified to Ava as the person who shot him. Instead, he removed Nina. That matters because Nina had repeatedly crossed dangerous lines to protect her daughter. As long as Nina remained free, wealthy and determined to shield Willow, Drew had another obstacle standing between him and his real target.
Now that obstacle is gone.
The wallet sent Nina into WSB custody. Willow is suddenly facing the possibility that her mother is beyond her reach. Only after Nina’s trap was complete did Drew announce that her daughter was “next.” Read together, those moves suggest something colder than spontaneous revenge: first remove Willow’s shield, then turn the evidence toward Willow herself.
There is another reason Brennan matters. Before his death, Brennan was deeply entangled in Willow’s secrets and had already demonstrated that he could manipulate federal resources to make damaging evidence disappear. His death does not automatically erase everything he touched. Records, recordings and the trail surrounding that missing traffic footage could still exist — and Drew has already shown how willing he is to turn something belonging to Brennan into a weapon.
That is why the wallet may have been only Phase One.
Drew’s September 17 slip did not reveal exactly what his next piece of evidence is, and there is no confirmation yet that he possesses Willow’s recording or the missing traffic footage. But the pieces already established on screen create a dangerous path forward. Brennan buried evidence for Willow. Willow recorded Brennan admitting it. Drew used Brennan’s wallet to destroy Nina. Then, only after Nina was taken away, Drew promised that Willow was next.
Willow thought Brennan’s confession was her protection.
She may soon discover it left behind the roadmap Drew needs to finish his revenge.
